Dive into the world of fermented drinks; exploring classics like Kombucha and Ginger Bug, alongside unique favourites such as Kvass and Tepache.
A ginger bug, much like a kombucha SCOBY, opens the door to creating your own delicious, naturally fizzy “health sodas” at home, without the chemicals or high price tags, and with endless flavour possibilities.
In this hands-on Kombucha & Ginger Bug fermentation class, you’ll learn the foundations of fermentation and understand the key differences between kombucha and ginger bug brewing.

We’ll cover all the practical essentials, including:
- How to create, use, and maintain a ginger bug
- How to grow, use, and care for your SCOBY
- First and second fermentation processes for kombucha
- How to keep your cultures healthy and thriving
You’ll also be inspired by a wide range of flavour combinations and gain insight into how different ingredients influence your brews.
During the class, you’ll make your own first ferment (including a SCOBY) to take home, as well as a second ferment where you’ll flavour a pre-made batch with ingredients of your choice. You’ll also enjoy tastings of a variety of fermented drinks to spark your creativity.
There will also be the option to learn how to make and taste:
- Kvass (a traditional beetroot fermented drink)
- Tepache (a refreshing pineapple fermented drink)
